The return of the critics?....
Sadly not, this is just a small post I felt the need to make after reading the food menu at Ashburne Hall for last week.
Shocking it was, shocking. No food on a bank holiday, because people don't eat then, you know.
Then there was Friday's fiasco.
Pizza or burger, sounds the norm, with RICE or a JACKET POTATO?!?!?!? I don't know who fed these people when they were growing up, but to me it was always chips with pizza, if anything! Ah well, rant over, back to my own terrible cooking!

We really have been disregarding this lately, I'm slightly disgusted with us all. To be fair the food here has been so bad recently it isn't worth wasting the energy writing about it. I think they're running out of food as it's nearly the end of term. Tonight I had a salad as did Delia, mine was made slightly more filling by the fact that she doesn't like cucumber. Mmmmm. I'll try and keep more up to date from now on, though to be fair I do still have exams....

Good lord we've been absent for a while. To be fair, I was cut off the network for a while, was very distressing. The food has been pretty much crap, crap and crap since last time, the highlight being today's sweet and sour chicken, which was very nice, there are no incredibly bad meals that stick out except maybe Monday's "Maccroni" cheese which I didn't eat but was solid by the end of the others eating they're meal. I try not to think about it too much, it upsets me greatly. In other news not related to food, Martha has a new boyfriend. Bout it really. He he he...

That was, by our standards, a pretty bad meal. Usually I just manage to pick out vaguely substantial meal but this Wednesday evening, I ate:
- three extremely dry chips
- two small bites of "Lemon and Pepper Turkey Escalope", a rather grand name I know but it tasted totally foul, even when doused in vinegar to mask the taste (I like vinegar by the way)
- one piece of broccolli which tasted of..nothing due to the fact that it had been boiled to the point of non-existance.
The whole experience left me feeling totally depressed:-(

No unauthorised table movements last night, it appears that the top secret group behind these nocturnal operations have changed their tactics. Watch this space.
Back to the food, which has been nowhere near as exciting, apart from maybe the discovery of the presence of both chicken AND pork in the "Sweet and Sour Sauce". And they thought we wouldn't notice. Last night's breaded fish wasnt too bad although the same can't be said for this morning's brunch; pink sausages and spaghetti hoops, fabulous.
Mind you, we complain about brunch every week, but since we've been told about next year's "arrangement" (going to Owen's Park for brunch), I think our good ol Ashburne style brunch is appreciated just that little bit more.
I just wish they'd stop serving those sausages...

Well we appear to have been distracted a bit since Tuesday. This of course has nothing to do with the dispute running between hall staff and students about the table arrangement. Firstly the students decided to change them back to their old arrangement but then posters went up, threatening to close the dining hall between meals if they persisted so the students put up fake posters which where removed. More were put up last night but they were put up rather high and the staff had to pay for people to come and remove them, so the dining hall has now been closed between meals. Oh fun. Now personally if I were running this operation there would be at least 20 posters on the stairway walls leading to the dining hall. But that's just me.
Now to the food, Wednesday was spaghetti bolognese which was rather nice, do not tell my father I said that! Yesterday sweet and sour pork/chicken, yes they mixed the meat. I personally had beef paste butties, a poor man's pate if you will. Today was breaded fish and chips, me and Delia had a sword fight with the food before eating it. Made up for the taste a bit.
If the people responsible for the table moving would like to set up an online petition in the comments system I would not object, nor to a link on the posters. We are after all, mythical creatures.
Spaghetti bolognese
Tomato suce, ey?
Half eaten yes but still a beef paste butty
